There are three aspects of difference among LCD CCTV monitor, LCD TV and LCD display in their performance, namely, image definition, color revivification and overall stability, which is mainly depended on the applying requirement and environment. On the one hand, CCTV monitor always shows the static picture, and it have to truly reflect the image information shot by the camera. There are a lot of details in this process, e.g. the partial character of the shot object. It will lose the aim for monitoring if the detail cannot be reflected vividly, thus it requires high
image definition of CCTV monitor. On the other hand, the detail always includes color characteristic which is also the key requirement of CCTV monitor to truly
reflect the color characteristic of the shot object, thus CCTV monitor have to own higher color revivification. In addition, because CCTV monitor needs to work continuously for a long period of time, it has high requirement for product stability.
Image Definition: The radio-frequency signal sent from TV station is received by traditional TV, and the corresponding video image bandwidth of this signal is usually less than 6M. As to the PAL system video signal, 1M bandwidth equals to 78 TV lines; and to NTSC system video signal, 1M bandwidth equals to 65 TV lines. The definition of TV is usually 400 lines, but the definition of front-end device in surveillance system is usually more than 400 lines, thus it requires its terminal device---monitor, should have higher image definition than this. Compared with traditional TV, professional CCTV monitor has bandwidth compensation and lifting circuit in channel circuit to make the band pass wider and the image definition
higher.
Color Revivification: If definition is mainly depended on frame-frequency characteristic of video channel, then revivification is determined by the chroma
and brightness signal phase of three basic colors-- Red (R), Green (G), Blue (B) of the monitor. Because the image of CCTV monitor is usually static, it has higher requirement on color revivification than ordinary TV. Therefore, professional CCTV monitor video channel should has precise compensation circuit and delay circuit in brightness, chroma processing and R, G, B processing to make sure that the phase of brightness/chroma signal and R, G,B signal are synchronized.
Overall Stability: When the monitor is forming its closed monitoring system, it usually needs to work continuously 24 hours per day,365 days per year (while the ordinary TV only needs to work a few hours per day). Furthermore, the applying environment for some monitors might be very terrible, thus it requires higher reliability and stability of the monitor. Compared with TV, electricity currency,
power dissipation, temperature and the ability of anit-electrical disturbance and electric impulse of CCTV monitor are higher, also the margin and average fault occupying time are longer. In the meanwhile, because CCTV monitor usually has to be combined into monitoring video wall, complete-shield metal outer frame shall be adopted and it shall have reliable EMC/EMI measure in the circuit to ensure the electromagnetism compatibility and anti-electromagnetism interference capability. In choosing the components, characteristics of resistance to pressure, electric current and temperature of the components should all be better than the ones of TV.
Also, CCTV monitor has higher requirement in the performances of installation, debugging and especially in the artwork requirement for both components and machine aging. Usually, TV will be under the aging process in the assembly line for about 8 hours electrified in normal temperature; while CCTV monitor shall be under high-temperature, high humidity enclosed environment for electrified aging up to 24 hours to ensure its stability.
In addition to the above-mentioned differences, the industry requires that CCTV monitor should have wider viewingl angle, higher brightness and contrast ratio than other LCD displays, for it is usually used in long-distance observation and because of the characteristics of dynamic-static image display and combination video wall.
